The Gallery also contains new, meticulously researched information panels containing a wealth of facts and photographs about Agatha Christie’s life and work, from her childhood at Ashfield, to her later years at Greenway. David also kindly presented to the Museum, on loan, the beautiful walking stick that he famously carried as Poirot. David Suchet, almost universally acknowledged as the finest actor to play Poirot, visited the Museum shortly afterwards to see and film the furniture while he was making an ITV documentary called Being Poirot. The furniture was carefully installed in the Museum in July 2013. The furniture and props, featured in ITV’s adaptations of Agatha Christie’s Poirot, were generously donated to Torquay Museum, after the filming of the final episode, by ITV Studios, Acorn Productions Ltd and HarperCollins Ltd. Visitors can now step inside Poirot’s study and lounge, reconstructed in the Agatha Christie Gallery, and including furniture, books, pictures and even fireplaces from his beautiful London Art Deco apartment. Trace the eventful life of the best-selling author of all time in this recently re-developed and improved gallery dedicated solely to Agatha Christie – her life, her novels and her plays.
